Live Nation Entertainment is the largest live entertainment company in the world and own some of the UK's largest music festivals.
Three of their festivals, Wireless, Download and Hard Rock Calling required responsive websites that would perform under very heavy load on all platforms. Working as part of the development team, we built responsive themes that operated across this multi-site Drupal installation. Technology used included Zen 5 (Zen Grids framework), HTML5, SASS, Compass, CSS3 and jQuery.
Bakehouse, part of the Lantmännen Unibake group are a leading supplier of pastries and speciality breads to cafés and other outlets.
We were approached to create a content managed website that could be easily updated with products, news and offers. We proposed a responsive approach, allowing the site to be fully usable on tablets and smartphones. The new site allows Lantmännen to test and receive feedback on new product ideas and the 'Get Involved' section allows customers to make their own tasty, crazy donut creations with different toppings and shapes.
Marco Pierre White is one of the world's most famous chefs and a successful restauranteur. On the Make it Like Marco site, he gives tips and passes on advice from his years of experience on designing menus and running a restaurant to help chefs succeed in these tougher times.
The existing website contained a lot of useful information but was hard to use due to a confusing layout and navigation and had few returning visitors.
The Solution: Content Strategy
We streamlined the content to focus on the main areas of achieving success and providing great menu ideas. A social media strategy was proposed to increase visitor retention and interest in the site.
The Solution: Responsive Design
With our experience of usability, we redesigned the site to be responsive so it would work well with the key target group of chefs, who often needed to view menu ideas in the kitchen on smartphones and iPads.
One of the UK's oldest and most prestigious companies, P&W have been selling fine cheese since the 1700s.
The site was designed from the start to replicate the experience found in a Paxton & Whitfield shop; a large range of expertly-chosen cheeses and associated products, delivered with expert knowledge and enthusiasm.
The design reflects the company's heritage and experience whilst positioning their online offering as modern, friendly and accessible. The new store, built using Magento, provides an enhanced shopping experience, clearly laying out the product categories and the use of icons and imagery clearly conveys to the customer a large amount of information about the type, region and flavour of a cheese. An order online, pickup in store service is available, allowing a customer to collect their order from their local shop at a time convenient to them. A blog and recipes are frequently updated, keeping the site feeling fresh.
The site also contains a wealth of information about selecting and storing cheese and details Paxton's corporate and wholesale services and allows a customer to easily find their local shop.
Optivet are a veterinary practice specialising in ophthalmic examinations and operations, diagnosing and treating conditions such as vision complaints and cataracts on patients ranging from cats to white tigers!
The site had to appeal to two distinct types of visitor. They wished to be portrayed to referring vets as a young, dynamic practice, specialising in the latest procedures and technologies, whilst presenting a friendly and approachable face to pet owners. The resulting design reflects these aspects. The website also allows vets to login and refer cases and subsequently manage them through their account interface. The site is responsive and so can be accessed on a variety of devices.
